Our Story

Hi!

I’m Sara Holliday, founder and director of Endless Sunshine Animal Sanctuary. I’ve always had a deep love for animals, but it wasn’t until my youngest daughter and I started volunteering at a pig sanctuary that everything began to shift. We spent time at several different sanctuaries, and through those experiences something stirred in my heart. I felt a calling-one that I believe God placed there-to create a sanctuary of my own.

We first bought land in a different area of Texas and were hopeful and excited, but we quickly realized that it just wasn’t the right fit for our family. Soon after that decision was made, we found 20 peaceful acres in Fredericksburg, Texas, and it just felt like home. We bought the place and just days after settling in, our first rescue arrived…a sweet donkey named Roscoe!

This sanctuary was founded, and continues to be driven by love, faith, and a desire to give animals a safe, healing space. It has also become a place of healing for people…myself included. Every animal here has a story, and every life we welcome in adds to the heart of this place.

Why the name Endless Sunshine Animal Sanctuary?

Many farm animals never experience real sunlight. They are kept indoors, confined, or hidden away for most or all of their lives. Endless Sunshine represents what they were denied: open skies, warmth, freedom, and the chance to live fully. At our sanctuary, sunshine isn’t limited or temporary — it’s endless, and it belongs to every rescued soul.
